Marc Gordon, owner of Marc Gordon Fitness, has been a professional personal trainer since 1996. He is currently certified by the American Council on Exercise (ACE), is trained and certified in administering CPR, and has held certifications from the National Strength and Conditioning Association of America (NSCA), the Aerobic and Fitness Association of America (AFFA), and has been certified as a Lifestyle and Weight Management Consultant (ACE).
Marc began lifting weights at the age of 12 because he was “skinnier than a piece of paper.” He quickly became a self-proclaimed “gym rat” and began absorbing as much information as he could get his hands on about the business of fitness, training, nutrition, and how the body works. He anxiously awaited the arrival of the latest editions of Muscle & Fitness and Flex Magazine, and eagerly devoured any information that fed his passion for body building and informed about the latest training ideology of the day – such as “muscle confusion” and “supersets.” Marc used this information to train himself at first, but by his late-20s he started to realize that his attention to perfect form and exercise execution was just the beginning of his ability to create “outside the box” exercises. He started to realize that changing certain problem areas of the female body was more about taking the muscles out of their comfort zone as opposed to just redundantly doing the same exercises over and over.
At the age of 30, Marc became a professional personal trainer, specializing in training women because of their unique need of wanting to lose weight while simultaneously toning up. Today he is recognized as one of New York City’s top fitness trainers of women.
Prior to starting Marc Gordon Fitness, Marc was an independent trainer for 17 years. He also spent five years as a personal trainer with New York Health & Racquet Club, and was an independent personal trainer in Los Angeles.
Marc lives in Brooklyn, and can often be seen cycling across the Manhattan Bridge and through the streets of his native New York.
